Niklaus and "Trusty" companion ripper Stefan have left Mystic Falls in search of werewolves to turn into hybrids. As Elena, Alaric and Damon go on a search to track him down, they discover the remains of their failed hybrid attempt, though they refuse to lose hope on redeeming Stefan. After realizing they've failed, Klaus and Stefan returned to Mystic Falls, taking the blood of doppelgänger Elena Gilbert, leaving once more for the search. Only it was hard enough searching for a pack of werewolves before, now that they have killed the ones they found. They continue to travel all over, until eventually they end up in a small town in California called Beacon Hills.
Beacon Hills High School is like every other stereotypical high school. The popular kids have their own crew and well as the geeks and others. But what about the supernatural crew? After finally being accepted by the cool kids, Scott and Stiles have more to worry about then school. They face the arrival of the Hybrid and his blood thirsty companion, Stefan. Not to mention the killer/stalker that has complete control over Jackson who was discovered to be a rejected werewolf, also known as the Kanima.. Lydia is returned to school after being missing and she isn't completely back to normal. Peter has found a way to deceive Lydia into bringing him back to life, which brings out a side of Lydia that no one, not even herself, knew was within. Derek continues to turn teens of BHH into werewolves to enter into his pack but will this only make him and the pack a target? Scott strives to continue his relationship with Allison as well as dodging her hunter father. But will his focus be on saving Allison from Scott, mourning his newly deceased wife, or saving Scott from Klaus?
This town had it's own type of werewolves. Fairly different from the ones Niklaus and the residence of Mystic Falls were use to. Would the doppelgänger blood work on them, turning them into hybrids? Or would it be a tragic outcome? Would trying this even be worth it? Or would Klaus realize they have come to a bump in the road and be smart enough to go over it? Do you have a dark natural instinct?
